Pituitary The gland that controls growth hormones
Bronchus The right and left tubes that bring air into the lungs
Veins The blood vessels that usually bring deoxygenated blood back to the heart

Stimulus Any change inside or outside the body that brings about a response
Cerebrum The largest part of your brain
Cerebellum The part of the brain that controls voluntary muscles
Reflex Involuntary, automatic response to a stimulus
Esophagus Sometimes called the food tube
Bladder This is the place where urine is stored
Mucus This is something that you swallow that protects the stomach wall
Hydrochloricacid the acid in the stomach
Pyloricvalve the valve that is between the stomach and the small intestine
Bile What is the enzyme that the liver produces?
Kidneys Blood is filtered in these organs
Ureter The tube that carries wastes from the kidneys to the bladder
Urethra This tube carries urine from the bladder out to the outside
Peristalsis the muscular action that moves food through the digestive tract
Chyme The thin watery fluid that food vecomes in the stomach
colon a common name for the large intestine
Mechanical Chewing is this kind of digestion
tendons Thick bands of tissue that attach muscles to bone
marrow The place in the bone where cells are made
vertebrae The bones that protect the spinal cord
periosteum The tough outer layer of bone
hinge Your knees and ankles are this type of joint
compact The hardest layer of bone
quadracep The muscles in front of your femur
clavicle The collar bone
femur The thigh bone
cartilage The natural shock absorbers for your bones
immovable The type of joints in your skull and pelvis
humerus The upper arm bone
involuntary Muscles that work automatically with out thought

ligaments Bands of tissue that keep joints in place
minerals The substances that make bones harden
tricep The muscle that contracts to straighten your arm
integumentary The scientific name for the skin organ
epidermis The outermost layer of skin
vitaminD This substance helps your body absorb calcium
Melanin The substance that gives skin its color
