Meiosis

| Meiosis | Cell division that produces haploid sex cells such as egg and sperm |
| Gametes | Sex Cells |
| Chromosome | In eukaryotic cells, a structure in the nucleus that are made up of DNA and protein. |
| Homologous Chromosomes | Chromosomes that have the same sequence of genes and the same structure |
| Diploid | Cell containing two complete sets of chromosomes. One from each parent. |
| Haploid | Cells that contain half the usual number of chromosomes |
| Egg | Female sex cell |
| Sperm | Male sex cell |
| Crossing over | the exchange of genes between homologous chromosomes, resulting in a mixture of parental characteristics in offspring. |
| Zygote | Fertilized egg cell. |
