Meiosis

TermDefinition
Meiosis Cell division that produces haploid sex cells such as egg and sperm
Gametes Sex Cells
Chromosome In eukaryotic cells, a structure in the nucleus that are made up of DNA and protein.
Homologous Chromosomes Chromosomes that have the same sequence of genes and the same structure
Diploid Cell containing two complete sets of chromosomes. One from each parent.
Haploid Cells that contain half the usual number of chromosomes
Egg Female sex cell
Sperm Male sex cell
Crossing over the exchange of genes between homologous chromosomes, resulting in a mixture of parental characteristics in offspring.
Zygote Fertilized egg cell.
