When does a Stroke occur? This occurs when an artery or arteries, that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain are blocked, ruptured, or burst with leakage, into the brain tissue.
What is another name for hypertension? High blood pressure
What are the two types of stroke? thrombosis and aneurysm
What are some signs and symptoms of stroke?? Slurred speech, Drooping face, Not able to raise an arm or both arms
What are the symptoms of hypertension?? There are no symptoms of hypertension but overtime symptoms such as: severe headaches, irregular heartbeat and shortness of breath can be seen in patients.
Causes of hypertension. Smoking, age, birth control pills, diabetes, family history, health problems or certain medications, environment: poor diet, stress, Obesity, excessive alcohol consumption, little exercise, high fat and salt intake, unhealthy diet.
What is Hypertension? A common condition in which the long term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough to eventually cause health problems.
Another term for stroke. Cerebrovascular accident
What is a thrombosis stroke? A blood clot that develops when there is a build up of materials that stick to the arteries supplying the brain with blood. The blockage prevents blood and nutrients from reaching the brain, which in turn causes a stroke.
What is an aneurysm stroke? A weakness in the wall of an artery, often the result of atherosclerosis. The aneurysm frequently bursts and leads to a haemorrhage.
True or false. Are the effects of a stroke dependent on which section of the brain is deprived of blood. True
What is the normal blood pressure for a young adult? 16.0 kPa systolic and 10.7 kPa diastolic.
What is diastolic pressure? When blood pressure falls in value, in between heart beats
What is the systolic pressure? The maximum pressure following an ejection of pressure
What are LDLs? Low density lipoproteins that carry cholesterol from the liver to tissues.
Name three economic impacts of communicable diseases. Increasing poverty and a impoverished society, Persons who become overweight due to fat, sometimes are not able to work in order to provide for themselves and their family members. This also contributes to poverty.
Name three social impacts of hypertension. Can lead to disability Poor quality of life Can lead to stroke
