Parts of an Experiment 21/22
| Term | Definition |

| Problem | What the researcher is trying to find out |
| Hypothesis | A prediction based on research or prior knowledge |
| Independent Variable | The variable that is changed intentionally by the researcher to see how it affects something |
| Control Group | The level of independent variable used to compare the other results |
| Levels of the Independent Variable | changes to the independent variable that will be tested |
| Dependent Variable | The variable that is measured as a result |
| Constants | All the conditions that are kept the same throughout the experiment |
| Data | the observations that are recorded (usually collected on a chart or table) |
| Trials | the number of times you test each level of the independent variable |
| Error | All of the external factors that happen during an experiment that could affect the outcome of the experiment |
| Conclusion | A summary of what the data shows, Tells whether or not your hypothesis is supported by the data |
| Average | calculated by adding a group of numbers and then dividing by the count of those numbers |
