Natural resources

Vocab words for Unit 1 Vocabulary words

TermDefinition
renewable resources natural resources that will replenish themselves by reproducing or growing again; for example sunlight and plants
non-renewable resources resources that cannot grow back (for millions of years) once they have been used up; for example oil and gold
replenish to restore to the former level or condition; for example water cannot replenish or refill itself as fast as we use it. We can plant seeds to help renewable crops grow again
conserve to use wisely; to protect from harm or destruction; to NOT use a resource that is non-renewable or to protect Earth from pollution
reduce to use less of; to reduce consumption, keeps form using natural resources
reuse to use something over and over again
natural resources things that occur in nature like air, water, sunlight and crops, that can be used to fulfill a need
recycle to turn something old into something new, which keeps us from using natural resources
