| canal | a man made strait |
| continents | large land masses |
| glacier | a huge mass of ice and snow that moves slowly over land |
| gulf | a large body of water surrounded by land on all three sides |
| hill | a raised area of land with a rounded top |
| ice cap | a glacier on top of a mountain spreading down all sides |
| inlet | a long or narrow indent in the shoreline |
| island | land surrounded by water |
| isthmus | a narrow strip of land that connects two larger ones |
| lake | a large body of water surrounded by land |
| landform | a natural feature of a land surface |
| ocean | the whole body of salt water between continents |
| peninsula | land with water on three sides |
| plateau | a mountain with a flat top |
| river | a natural flowing body of water larger than a stream or creek |
| sea | body of salt water smaller than an ocean basin |
| strait | a thin body of water that connects two larger ones |
| stream | a small river |
| valley | a landform lower than the land around it |
