QuestionAnswer
Fossils Remains,imprints, or traces of prehistoric organisms
Premineralized Remains Fossils in which the spaces inside are filled with minerals from groundwater
Carbon Film Thin film of carbon residue is left, forming a silhoulette of the original organism
Mold The hard part that might decay or disssolve, leaving behind cavity in the rock
Cast Mineral rich water or other sedi ment might enter the cavity form new rock, produces a copy of the original object
Index Fossil The remains of species that exsisted on earth for relatively short periods of time, were abundant and were widespread geologically
Principle of Superposition A underturbed layer of rock, the oldest rocks are on the bottom and rocks become progressively youger toward the top.
