chemical property a characteristic that describes something's ability to become something else
pure substance a single kind of matter that always has the same makeup, or composition
element substances that are made up of only one type of atom
molecule A group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds
compound A substance made of two or more elements that are chemically combined in a set ratio
mixture is made up of two or more substances that are physically mixed together, not chemically bonded. Most of the time, they can be separated fairly easy
