SCIENTIFIC METHOD The process by which scientists answer questions and solve problems.
HYPOTHESIS A predicted answer to a scientific problem based on observations, previous knowledge, and research.
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE The factor that is changed on purpose by the experimenter; also called manipulated variable.
DEPENDENT VARIABLE The factor that responds to the independent variable; the factor that you measure or observe as data
CONSTANTS Variables in an experiment that are kept the same in every trial
CONTROLLED EXPERIMENT An experiment that tests only one variable at a time and is used as a comparison.
EXPERIMENTAL GROUP the group being tested for a reaction to a change in the variable; also known as the treatment group.
REPEATED TRIALS The number of times an experiment is tested.
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE LEVELS The way(s) in which the independent variable is changed by the experimenter
PROBLEM QUESTION It is what you are trying to solve in an experiment, written as a question.
