QuestionAnswer
weather condition os the sky during a certain time including weather, air pressure, clouds, precipitation
climate long term avergae for weather over a long period of time
water cycle nonstop repeating pattern of water in different stages of matter
evaporation liquid changing to a gas
condensation gas changing to a liquid
precipitation gas changing to a liquid and falling from the atmosphere
freezing liquid changing to a solid
melting solid changing to a liquid
ground water araes on earths surface where water is stored including lakes, oceans, ponds, puddles
transpiration plants giving off water like evaporation to stay cool
air pressure messure of amount of air being exerted in an area of Earth's surface by the atmosphere
high air pressure air cools and becomes more dense it sinks towards earths surface causing increase in air pressure
low air pressure air warms and becomes less dense it rises away from Earths surface causing decrease in air pressure
front front edge of a boundary between two air masses typically named for the air mass moving into the area
cold front front edge of cold air mass occurs when a cold air mass moves into an area currently occupied by a warm air mass
warm front front edge of warm air mass occurs when warm air mass moves into an area currently occupied by a cold air mass
stationary front when a cold air mass is moving in one direction and runs into a warm air mass moving in the opposite direction
occluded front when a warm air mass moving into an area is followed immediatly by quickly moving cold air mass resulting in the warm air mass being pushed upwards
air mass large body of air in same range of tempreature and humidity
isobar line on map connecting all points of equal air pressure
wind air moving from high air pressure areas towards low pressure areas can be local or occur over large areas
coriolis effect mass such as the earth experiences a force acting perpendicular to the direction of motion and to the axis of rotation
