TermDefinition
Attraction/Atracción The electric force exerted by oppositely charged particles, tending to draw or hold the particles together./ La fuerza eléctrica ejercida por partículas con carga opuesta, que tiende a atraer o mantener unidas las partículas.
Chemical energy/Energía química Energy that is stored in matter and can be released by a chemical reaction.
Circuit/Circuito An interconnection of electrical elements forming a complete path for the flow of electric current.
Conduct/Conducta To transmit heat, sound, or electricity through a medium.
Conductor/Conductor A material that readily allows electric charges to pass through it and therefore carries electricity well.
Insulator/Aislante A material used to reduce or prevent the transfer of electricity, heat, or sound.
Electrical energy/Energía eléctrica Energy made available by the flow of electric charge through a conductor.
Energy/Energía The capacity to do work./ La capacidad de trabajar.
Mechanical energy/Energía mecánica The energy that is possessed by an object due to its motion or position.
Repel/Repeler To force away or apart. Para alejar o apartar.
Sound energy/Energia de sonido Energy produced by sound vibrations. Energía producida por vibraciones sonoras
Potential energy/ Energía potencial energy that is stored to be used later/ energía que se almacena para ser utilizada más tarde
Kinetic energy/ Energía cinética energy of motion/ energía del movimiento
Refract/ Refracción light is bent such as through a different medium (pencil through air then water)/ la luz se dobla a través de un medio diferente (lápiz a través del aire y luego del agua)
Reflect/ Reflejo light is bounced off an object like on a mirror/ la luz rebota en un objeto como en un espejo.
Absorb/ Absorber light goes into an object like sun shining on your shirt warms you up/ la luz entra en un objeto como el sol que brilla en tu camisa te calienta

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
