| Pressures | the use of persuasion, influence, or intimidation to make someone do something. |
| Mood | suggestive of a particular feeling or state of mind. |
| Atmosphere | Writers develop a story’s atmosphere with description and narration, using literary devices and techniques like setting, imagery, diction, and figurative language. |
| Author's Word Choice | Language that evokes emotions and images. |
| Small Moments | a particular point at which an event takes place. |
| Group Dynamics | the processes involved when people in a group interact with each other. |
| Powerful Characters | characters that influence the story the most. |
| Internal Conflict | psychological struggle within the mind of a literary or dramatic character |
| External Conflict | struggle between a literary or dramatic character and an outside force such as nature or another character |
| Evidence | any sort of information that supports a certain assertion |
| Plagiarism | the act of using someone else’s ideas, words, or thoughts as your own without giving credit to the other person |
| Ellipsis | a literary device that is used in narratives to omit some parts of a sentence or event, which gives the reader a chance to fill the gaps while acting or reading it out |
| Quote | the act of quoting something that someone else has written or said |
| Paraphrase | recount the story, its main characters, and events in our own words |
