Scientific Method

TermDefinition
What is the first step to the scientific method? Making an observation/asking a question
What is the second step of the scientific method? Form a hypothesis
What is the third step of the scientific method? Form/conduct experiment
What is the fourth step of the scientific method? Data collection/analysis
What is the fifth step of the scientific method? Conclusion
What is a dependent variable? The factor that is measured or observed.
What is a independent variable? The factor in the experiment that is being tested
What is a control group? The group that is not being tested on and has had no treatment received. This group is commonly used for comparison or baseline.
Define qualitative data Data in an experiment that can’t be measured using numbers, most of the time is a reaction or emotions of some sort.
Define quantitive data Data in an experiment that can be measured or calculated with the use of numbers.
