Physical and Chemical Changes Notes

TermDefinition
physical change a change that affects one or more physical properties of a substance.
chemical change occurs when one or more substances change into entirely new substances with different properties.
chemical properties describe which chemical changes can or cannot happen to that substance.
law of conservation of mass states that in ordinary chemical and physical changes, mass is not created or destroyed.
law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed.
endothermic changes that absorb energy.
exothermic changes that release energy.
