Drug Conversions

Basic math/conversions for blocks/epi

% concentration Grams / 100 mL
1gm = 1000 mg / 1,000,000 mcg
1mg = 0.001gm /1000 mcg
1% Lido = 1 gm / 100 mL
Converting 1 % (or 0.5, 1.5, 2%) into mg/mL (expanded) 1% = 1gm/100mL= 1000mg/100mL= 10mg/mL
Converting 1 % (or 0.5, 1.5, 2%) into mg/mL (short hand trick) Move decimal one space to the RIGHT
mg/mL to % (decimal trick) one decimal the the LEFT
1/2% = 0.5% (5mg/ml)
1/4% = 0.25% = 2.5 mg/ml
1/8% = 0.125% = 1.25mg/ml
1/16% = 0.0625% = 0.625mg/ml
1/32% = 0.03125% = 0.3125mg/ml
