What do you do if you need something from the first aid kit? Ask Mr Rubarts (or a staff member) for it.
When do we use the emergency bucket? If we were stuck in the building, we would be able to use supplies in bucket. (food, toilet, etc)
How do you call the office in case of emergency? Press the red button. Someone will respond to ask the emergency, and another person will come to the room
What is the white button for? Non-emergency communication
What do you do in case of a tornado? 1)Line up quietly 2) Go into back room 3)Protect your head 4) Remain quiet
What do you do in case of an earthquake? Crouch under desks or lab tables; protect necks and heads with hands.
What do you do in case of fire or evacuation? 1) Line up quickly and quietly. 2) Walk down 7th grade hallway toward parking lot and out -doors. 3) Go to NE corner of parking lot, away from building.
Water nozzles should always be turned off except as part of a lab or cleanup
How do we clean lab stations? Wipe down with a small amount of soap on a wet paper towel. Lab partner dries after you.
When do we wash our hands? ALWAYS after lab work, or if directed by Mr. Rubarts.
Should there ever be food or gum in lab? NO
What to wear in lab A) safety goggles (as needed) B) apron (as needed) C) tie back long hair D) secure loose clothing
How do you cut with a sharp blade? Always cut AWAY from yourself.
What do you do if you get something sharp in your eye? Leave it in. Keep your eye shut. Call for help.
How do you carry glass items? Use both hands
What do you do if a glass item breaks? Notify Mr. Rubarts or a staff member. Mr Rubarts or the staff member will handle cleanup!
Who pays for breakage? The person who broke it.
What is the rule about horseplay in the lab? NO running, pushing, hitting, throwing, and any kind of rough housing.
What is the rule about stools? DO NOT LEAN BACK ON STOOLS!
What are appropriate lab behaviors? Be safe Follow directions Use equipment as instructed.
How do you dispose of chemicals? Pour them down the drain and rinse out the sink
What will happen if you lean on the lab stools? 1st time: The whole class will be given a warning. Other times: The whole class will stand for the rest of class.
Why should we take care of our technology (equipment)? It is expensive to replace, so we want the technology to last.
What do you do if you see someone fainting? Try to catch them/keep them from hitting something Get teacher immediately Don’t crowd them!
What do you do if someone has a seizure Get teacher and call office Keep from falling, roll to side Do not put anything in their mouth
