Fresh Water Water that has no salt, little or no taste and no color or smell.
Salt Water Water that contains dissolved salts and other minerals.
Water Cycle The continuous movement of water thruogh the enviromant of Earth
Evaporation Process in which water turns from a liquid to vapor in the air
Condensation Process in which water vapor turns back to a liquid usually when the air cools.
Precipitation Water that falls from the clouds.
Divide A ridge or continuous line of high land from which water flows in different directions.
Drainage Basin An area in which all of the water on one side of a divide flows inbetween two divides
Turnover The rising and sinking of cold and warm water layers in a lake.
Eutrophication The increase of nutrients in a lake or pond
Ice Burg Mass of ice floating in the ocean.
Groundwater Water that is held underground
Permeable Substance that liquids can go through
Impermeable Substance that liquids can not go through
Water Table The top of of a region that is saturated, or completley filled with water.
Aquifer An underground layer of permeable rock or sedament that contains water.
Spring A flow of water from the ground at a place were the surface of the land dips below the water table.
Artesian Wall A well in which water flows to the surface naturaly because it is under preasure.
