| Thematic Transormation | The technique of using one theme that changes throughout a composition |
| Concert Overture | A one-movement, self-contained musical work intended for performance in a concert hall |
| Bel Canto Style | Cultivating the aria to its highest possible level; function was to delight audiences with melodious and spontaneous music |
| Verismo | Realism |
| Leitmotifs | Melodies or fragments of melodies used to identify particular characters, objects, or ideas; allows the music to support the drama as much as possible |
