Life Cycles TEK 3.10B

TermDefinition
Complete Metamorphosis The total change of form that some insects go through as they become adults.
Froglet A young frog specifically : one that has recently metamorphosed from a tadpole.
Incomplete Metamorphosis The partial change of form that some insects go through as they become adults.
Lady Beetle An insect more commonly known as a Ladybug.
Stage A single step in the process of metamorphosis.
Tadpole The larva stage of a frog or toad that has a long tail, breathes with gills.
Adult Plant The final stage in a plant life cycle.
Egg The beginning stage of a life cycle.
Flower The part of a plant needed for reproduction.
Frog A tailless animal that is an amphibian with smooth moist skin and webbed feet.
Fruit The part of a flowering plant that contains the seeds.
Larva An early form of any animal that at birth or hatching is very different from its parent.
Life Cycle The stages in an organism’s life from birth to death.
Pupa A stage in the life cycle of some insects in which it is enclosed in a cocoon or case.
Seed Contains a miniature plant, called an embryo, that can develop into a fully grown plant. The beginning of the plant life cycle.
Seedling A young plant grown from seed.
