Term | Definition |
---|---|
Inner Planet | A planet whose orbit lies within the asteroid belt: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars |
Model | A small but exact copy of a thing. |
Orbit | The path that an object takes in space when it goes around a star, a planet, or a moon. |
Outer Planet | The planets in the Solar System that are beyond the asteroid belt: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune |
Solar System | The Sun and everything that orbits, or travels around, the Sun. |
Earth | A rocky, terrestrial planet. |
Moon | The large round object that circles the Earth and that shines at night by reflecting light from the sun. |
Rotate | To spin on an axis. |
Star | Huge, glowing ball of gases in space. |
Sun | The star at the center of the solar system. It is a hot ball of gases that gives off great amounts of energy. |
