| Term | Definition |

| Adaptation | To change behavior so that it is easier to function in a particular place or situation. |
| Defense | Something used to prevent prey from being hurt by a predator. |
| Camouflage | A defense or tactic that organisms use to disguise their appearance, usually to blend in with their surroundings. |
| Mimicry | An evolved resemblance between an organism and another object, often an organism of another species. |
| Predator | An organism that primarily obtains food by the killing and consuming of other organisms. |
| Prey | an animal that is hunted or killed by another animal for food. |
| Environment | Includes everything living and everything nonliving. |
| Function | The special purpose or use of something. |
| Organism | Any living thing. |
| Structure | An arrangement or organization of parts to form an organ, system, or living thing. For example: Hand, mouth, heart, fur, tail, etc.. |
| Survive | To remain alive. |
