Genre Characteristics - Poetry

TermDefinition
Figurative Language A word or phrase that does not have its normal everyday, literal meaning.
Poet A person who writes a poem.
Sound Device Literary elements used in prose and poetry to stress certain sounds and create musical effects.
Speaker Someone who is the voice of the poem.
Stanza A part of a poem consisting of two or more lines arranged together as a unit.
