| Term | Definition |

| Behavioral Adaptation | Any action a plant or animal takes to survive in an environment. |
| Structural Adaptation | Physical features of an organism like the bill on a bird or the fur on a bear. |
| Adapt | To change behavior so that it is easier to function in a particular place or situation. |
| Ecosystem | All the living and nonliving things that interact with each other in an environment. |
| Environment | Includes everything living and everything nonliving. |
| Function | The special purpose or use of something. |
| Organism | Any living thing. |
| Species | A group of animals or plants whose members are similar and can breed together to produce young animals or plants. |
| Structure | An arrangement or organization of parts to form an organ, system, or living thing. For example: Hand, mouth, heart, fur, tail, etc.. |
| Survival | To remain alive. |
