| Term | Definition |

| Crater | A hole (as in the surface of the earth or moon) formed by an impact (as of a meteorite). |
| Satellite | A small object that orbits, or revolves around, a larger object in space. |
| Weight | The measure of the force of gravity on an object. |
| Atmosphere | The blanket of air that surrounds Earth. |
| Earth | A rocky, terrestrial planet. |
| Moon | The large round object that circles the Earth and that shines at night by reflecting light from the sun. |
| Sun | The star at the center of the solar system. It is a hot ball of gases that gives off great amounts of energy. |
| Rotate | To spin on an axis. |
| Orbit | The path taken by one object circling around another object. |
| Axis | An imaginary line an object turns around. |
| Revolve | To move in a path around another space body, such as the sun. |
