Space Systems
| Term | Definition |

| solar system | a star and all of the objects that travel around it - planets, moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids |
| satellite | An object that revolves around another object in space (moon) |
| sun | largest star in our solar system |
| gravitational pull in our solar system | As planets move farther away from the sun, their gravitational pull towards it decreases. |
| Asteroid Belt | the region of the solar system between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, where many asteroids are found |
| Inner Planets | Small, rocky planets that orbit closest to the sun including Mercury, Venus, Earth, & Mars |
| Outer Planets | Gaseous planets that are past the Asteroid Belt including Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, & Neptune (called Gas Giants) |
| scale model | a copy of an object that is bigger or smaller than the real size of an object |
| gravity | attractive force between any two objects; depends on the masses of the objects and the distance between them |
| galaxy | a huge collection of gas, dust, and billions of stars and their solar systems, all held together by gravity |
| orbit | a regular, repeating path that one object in space takes around another one |
