Simple Machines

What is a Simple Machine? A simple device for changing the amount and/or direction of force to move an object
What is a Lever? A Simple Machine made of a bar that pivots in a fixed support, or Fulcrum
What are the Classes of Levers? A Fulcrum placed between the effort and the load, load between the effort and the fulcrum, and the effort in between the load and the fulcrum
What is a Wheel and an Axel? A wheel attached to an axel a force is transferred from one to another
What is a Pulley? A pulled rope over a wheel that changes the direction of force
What is an Inclined Plane? A flat surface raised at an angleused for lifting a heavy load instead of straight up
What is a Wedge? Made up of two Inclined Planes together used to push objects apart or cut
What is a Screw? An Inclined Plane wrapped around a cylinder less distance between threads the easier the work
What is a knife an example of? A Wedge
