What is the name of the organ that responds to insulin and glucagon? liver
Which hormone is produced when glucose levels in the blood are increase? Insulin
Which hormone is produced when glucose levels in the blood are decrease? Glucagon
What is the effect of insulin on the liver? It takes in glucose and stores it as glycogen
What is glycogen? A storage carbohydrate
What is the effect of glucagon on the liver? It turns glycogen back into glucose and releases it into the bloodstream
What happens to the blood sugar levels when insulin is released? It decreases
What happens to the blood sugar levels when glucagon is released? It increases
What is the name of the sugar in the blood? Glucose
What responses happen when body temperature gets too high? Blood diverted to the skin and sweating
What responses happen when body temperature gets too low? Shivering, blood is diverted away from the skin
