TermDefinition
CRANIUM Set of bones that form the top of the head and enclose and protect the brain, cerebellum and medulla oblongata.
CLAVICLE An elongated flat bone, shaped like an italic "S", located in the anterosuperior part of the thorax of vertebrates.
HUMERUS Longest bone of the upper extremity, the upper arm.
RIBS They are long, elastic, flat bones, which together with the spine and sternum form the bony cage called the thorax. They protect the internal organs of the thorax, such as the heart.
STERNUM Is part of the rib cage, a series of bones that protects the heart and lungs from injury.
VERTEBRAL COLUMN Is a complex articulated and resistant cartilaginous or bony structure, in the form of a longitudinal stem, which constitutes the posterior part of the axial skeleton of vertebrate animals and protects the spinal cord.
ULNA Is a long bone, parallel to the radius, located between the humeral trochlea and the carpus. It is located on the inner side of the forearm.
PELVIS Region of the mammalian body formed by the sacrum, coccyx and innominate bones, located in the posterior part of the trunk, where the final part of the digestive tract, the urinary bladder and other organs are housed.
FEMUR Is the thigh bone, the second segment of the lower limb. It is the longest, strongest and most voluminous bone in the human body.
TIBIA The tibia is medial to the fibula with which it articulates at its proximal and distal ends. Also, between both bones there is a fibrous membrane called "interosseous membrane" that provides stability to both joints by forming a syndesmosis.
