Earth Layers and Plate Tectonics
| Term | Definition |

| Crust | The layer that varies the most in thickness |
| Asthenopshere | The soft layer of the Earth's upper mantle/crust |
| Mantle | The thickest layer of the Earth |
| Outer Core | The liquid layer of the core |
| Inner Core | The solid dense layer of our planet. |
| Transform Boundary | Plates slide past each other |
| Convergent Boundary | Plates that move together |
| Divergent Boundary | Plates that pull apart |
| Plate | Rigid part of the Earth's crust |
| Pangea | Means "All Earth" A super continent that existed 250 million years ago |
| Earthquake | A shaking or trembling of the Earth |
| Plate Tectonics | Theory that the Earth's crust is broken into parts. |
| Continental Drift | Continents plowing through the seafloor to their present day position |
| Fault | A break in the Earth's crust |
| Mid -ocean Ridge | A long mountain chain in the Atlantic Ocean floor where tectonic plates pull apart. |
