Science rocks

QuestionAnswer
What is a rock? A mixture of one or more minerals
what is lava? magma that reaches the earths crust.
What is magma? molten rock under earths crust.
What is molten? Very hot liquid material
What are sediment(s)? Pieces of shell, rock, and/or parts of plants and animals.
What is Igneous rock? A Type of rock formed from the cooling of melted rock material (magma or lava)
What is sedimentary rock? A type of rock formed from sediments hardening into layers.
What is Metamorphic rock? A type of rock formed when heat and pressure change other rocks.
What is color? What hue the mineral appears to be in light.
what is a streak? The color of the mineral in powdered form.
Hardness? how easily a mineral can be scratched; measured on Moh's scale hardness.
Cleavage and Fracture? How a mineral breaks when hit sharply.
Luster? How light reflects off a minera's surface.
