| Fossil Fuel Formation | They are formed from the growth of organisms, its burial, and compaction. Heat and pressure help turn organic material into oil, coal, and gas. |
| Adaptation | Special features or skills that organism have or use that allow them to survive in their environment. |
| Inherited trait | Characteristics that are passed down from parent to offspring |
| Instincts | Are a way of thinking or behaving that come naturally. Instincts are inherited. |
| Learned behaviors | Are skills that an organism learns through teaching and observation. |
| Acquired Traits | Characteristics of an organism that occur after they are born (scar, tattoos) |
| U- Shaped Valleys | Round-bottom floor valleys with nearly vertical sides. They have small hills containing sediments of many sizes. They are created by GLACIERS |
| Structures | Refers to a specific body parts of an organism. |
| Function | Refers to the action or behavior of a body part. |
| Canyon | Deep narrow valley with steep sides. Canyons are formed from the weathering and erosion of flash flood rivers. |
| Complete Metamorphosis | When insects develop in four stages. There is a complete change from one stage to the next. Butterflies, insects, bugs are examples of animals that go though it. Egg ---> Larva ---> Pupa ----> Adult |
| Incomplete metamorphosis | Insects that have three stages of development go though complete metamorphosis. The stages are: leg ---> larva (nymph) ---> adult Dragonflies, grasshoppers, and cockroaches go though incomplete metamorphosis. |
