Layers of the Earth
| Term | Definition |

| Outer Core | This layer contains liquid iron and nickel and may influence the earth's magnetic field. |
| Inner Core | Layer of the earth that is made of solid iron and nickel. May be over 9000 degrees Fahrenheit. |
| Lithosphere | Layer of earth that contains Continental and Oceanic Crust. |
| Mesosphere | Layer of earth that contains over 80% of the earth's volume and can be up to 1700 miles thick. |
| Asthenosphere | This layer can move like a thick liquid and averages about 100 miles thick. |
| Crust | Top layer, contains two types: continental and oceanic; also known as the lithosphere. |
| Corrosion | The process by which metals are slowly broken down by reacting with substances in their environment. |
| To scale | Showing an image either reduced or enlarged in size. |
| Upper Mantle | This layer contains both the Lithosphere and the Asthenosphere |
| Magma | Hot molten or semi-molten rock found beneath the earth's surface. |
