Parts of Experiment

Nature of Science, parts of an experiment, types of investigations

Control what stays the same (ex. what doesn't get changed, type of plant, size of pot)
Control Group no independent variable added (what is normal before changes are made)
Test Variable what we manipulate or change
model a 2D or 3D picture of something too big or too small to understand easily
field study investigation that studies plants and animals in nature and recording data
controlled experiment investigation in which scientists control variables and set up a test to answer a question
repeated systematic observation investigation that repeatedly documents descriptive details of nature over time (ex. moon phases)
simulation a moving model of things that are too big or too small to understand easily
