what is continental drift? the hypothisis that the continents slowly move across eartths serfice
what is deposition? the process in wich sediment settles out of the water or wind that is carrying it
what is an earthquake? the shaking that results from movement below earths serfice
what is erosion? the destructive proccess in wich water or wind loosen and carry away fragments of rock
what is a fault? a break in earths crust where slabs of rock slip past eachother
what is a fossil? a trace of an ancient organism that has been preserved in rock
what is geology? the study of planet earth
what is igneous rock? a type of rock that forms from the cooling of molten rock at or below the surface
what is lava? liquid magma that reaches the surface also the rock formed when liquid lava forms
what is magma? the moultin mixture of rock forming substances, gasses, and water from the mantle
what is metamorphic rock? a type of rock that forms from an existing rock that is changed by heat, pressure, or chemical reactions
what is a mineral? a naturally occuring inorganic solid that has a crystal structure and a definite chemical composition
