Cell Wall Stiff wall that surrounds the cell, gives the cell its rigid box-like shape
Cell Membrane Thin skin, barrier, lets things in and out "The Protector"
Nucleus Cell’s control center, directs the cell’s activities. Contains DNA! "The Boss"
Nuclear Membrane Protects the nucleus, allows things to go in and out
Cytosol (Cytoplasm) Gel-like fluid that the organelles float in
Endoplasmic Reticulum Network of passages to move materials around the cell, "Highway"
Ribosomes Tiny factories to produce proteins " The Builder"
Golgi Bodies/Golgi Apparatus Receives material from ER, packages it, and sends it, mailroom "The Mailman"
Chloroplasts/The chef Captures energy from sunlight and uses it to produce food for the cell. Contains the chemical chlorophyll.
Vacuoles Storage - food, water, and waste - one, big one in plant cell, a few small ones in animal cell "The Storage Tank"
Lysosomes Small round structures, contain chemicals that break down worn out cell parts "The Garbage Truck"
Mitochondria Makes most of the cell’s energy, rod shaped, power plant "The Powerhouse"
