This type of bone is primarily found in the shafts of long bones and the outer surface of other bones. Compact
The microscopic unit of a compact bone is referred to as WHAT or WHAT system? Osteon or haversian
Compact bone has many of these systems called WHAT and contain blood WHAT? Osteon/haversian systems and (blood) vessels
In compact bone, blood supplies the tissues with WHAT and WHAT? oxygen and nutrients
Spongy bone is also called WHAT? Cancellous
This type of bone has no osteon/haversian systems. Spongy or cancellous bone
Spongy/cancellous bone tissue is arranged in plates called WHAT? Trabecule
The trabecule plates in spongy/cancellous bone is separated by holes similar to WHAT? Swiss cheese
The holes in spongy/cancellous bone decrease bone weight and contains what? Red bone marrow
The bone marrow in spongy/cancellous bone supplies the bone with WHAT and also produces these cells for use throughout the body. blood cells
