What affects surface currents? movement of Earth & wind direction and force
What affects deep ocean currents? the Earth's rotation & the rise and fall of warm and cool currents
What causes tides? the gravitational pull of the moon
How are waves a destructive force? Weathering and erosion of beach sand and
How are waves a constructive force? By depositing sand building up the beach
How are currents constructive forces? They deposited sand from one part of the beach or slope to another.
How are tides constructive forces? High tide brings in shells and sediment and deposits it
How are tides destructive forces? Low tides erodes beaches by removing sand and sediment on its way out
What are tides? the regular rise and fall of waters in the ocean
What is high tide? when the water is at its highest point on the shore and less beach is exposed
What is low tide? when the water is at its lowest point on the shore and more beach is exposed
What happens when a wave gets closer to the shore? it changes shape
Why do waves increase in height as they approach the shore? they interact with the ocean floor
What happens when a current comes into a landmass? It changes direction.
