| Advertisement | an announcement that tries to get the public’s attention |
| Claim | a writer’s position on a problem or issue; similar to message |
| Message | whatever the author wants the reader to think or believe; similar to claim |
| Support | the reasons and evidence that help prove the claim |
| Argument | a carefully stated claim supported by reasons and evidence |
| Faulty Reasoning | a claim based on reasoning that is incorrect, biased, or simply does not make sense |
