Ecology the study of how organisms interact with one another and with the environment
Biotic factors the interactions between organisms and an area
abiotic factor a non-living part of an environment

population a group of individuals of the same species that live in the same place at the same time
species includes organisms that are closely related and can mate to produce fertile offspring
community made up of all the populations of different species
ecosystem a community of organisms and their non-living environment
biomes large regions that have similar climates and where communities of species are grouped together
population’s niche the role the population plays in an ecosystem
habitat the place where an organism lives
