Descriptive and Sequence Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Text Structure how an author organizes their writing
Sequence explains how things happen in order; chronological order
Cause/Effect the author explains how one event leads to or causes another
Problem/Solution the author identifies a problem and offers one or more solutions
Descriptive the author offers a main idea and supports it with details; also known as main idea
Compare/Contrast the author explains how things are similar or different
Main Idea what the story is mostly about; the overall idea
Details facts that support the main idea
Chronological Order the order in which events happen
Numerical relating to a series of numbers
Sonar the use of echoes to locate and identify objects
