Intrapartum Complication

| Augmentation | Adding to or increasing ...... ex- increasing action of uterine muscle |
| Caput Succedaneum | swelling produced on the presenting part del fetal head during labor |
| Cephalhematoma | SubQ swelling containing blood, found on the head of infants several days after delivery: disappears few wks-2mon |
| Cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD) | A condition in which the fetal head is of a shape, size, or position that cannot pass through the maternal pelvis |
| Chignon | Caput that forms underneath the vacuum cup of a vacuum extractor |
| Dysfunctional Labor | Abnormal labor that does not progress |
| Dystocia | difficult labor or delivery |
| Induction of Labor | Initiation of labor before it begins naturally |
| Inertia | A sluggishness or inactivity of uterine contractions during labor |
| Tetanic contractions | abnormally long uterine contractions, >70sec from oxytocic infusion |
| Tachystystole | uterine contractions frequency more than once in 2min or 5 in 10min with > duration 60sec |
| Tocolytic agent | drug that alters the force of uterine contractions. Stop uterine contractions |
