| Day/night cycle | Caused by the Earth's rotation or spinning on its axis once every 24 hours |
| Appearance | The way something looks |
| Full Moon | This is when the moon appears to be fully illuminated |
| Lunar Cycle | Another name for the moon cycle |
| New Moon | The moon is not visible at the time |
| Shadow | Cast by an object that blocks the Sun's light will change from long in the morning, shortest at noon, then long in the late afternoon. |
| Sunrise/Dawn | When the sun begins to rise in the East |
| Sunset/dusk | When the sun begins to set in the West |
| Seasons | Caused by the tilt of the Earth |
| Tides | Caused by the gravitational pull of the Earth |
| Weathering | The wearing away of sediments by water, waves, wind or ice |
| Erosion | The moving or carrying away of sediments to a new location |
| Deposition | The dropping of sediments to a new location |
| Cementation | Sticking together like glue |
| Compaction | The pressure of pressing together sediments |
| Sedimentary Rock | Rock made by the deposits of sediments that form layers. |
| Decay | To go through decomposition |
| Earthquakes | Triggered by the movement of Earth's plates |
| Landslides | Gravity or rain or both, pulls rocks and mud down the mountain causing destruction. |
| Tsunami | An earthquake in the ocean causes these giant destructive waves |
