subatomic particles

subatomic particle particle that is smaller than an atom.
electron negatively charged subatomic particle

neutron neutral subatomic particle
atomic mass unit unit used to measure the mass of an atom and its subatomic particles
atom smallest particle of an element, smallest functional unit of matter, building block of all things
electron shell represents the amount of energy an electron has
nucleus center or core of an atom made up of protons and neutrons
bohr atomic model model of an atom that has a nucleus that is orbited by electrons in electrons shells
electrostatic force the attractive force between opposite charges or the repulsive force between like charges
strong nuclear force the force between protons and neutrons that holds the nucleus together
ion a charged atom (either positively charged or negatively charged)
cation a positively charged atom
anion a negatively charged atom
element A substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances; a type of element.
neutral atom an atom that has a charge of zero
