| hypertrophy | increase in # of cells w/o cell division. | |
| inflammatory response | sequential reaction to cell injury | |
| lethal injury | irreversible process that causes cell death | |
| sublethal injury | alters function w/o causing cell death | |
| necrosis | death of cells within a living organism | |
| pressure ulcer | tissue necrosis caused by unrelieved pressure that occludes blood flow | |
