Music Theory Vocabulary - Level 1

Whole Note 4 beats of sound
Half Note 2 beats of sound
Quarter Note 1 beat of sound
Eighth Note 1/2 beat of sound - it takes 2 of these to make 1 full beat
Whole Rest 4 beats of silence
Half Rest 2 beats of silence
Quarter Rest 1 beat of silence
Staff 5 lines and 4 spaces - where music is written
Time Signature Set of numbers (that look like a fraction) at the beginning of music - these numbers tell you how many beats per measure & what kind of rhythm gets 1 beat
Bar Line Line that divides the measures
Repeat Symbol that tells the musician to play a section again
