Map Drafting

| contour interval | The vertical distance between contour lines. |
| dip | The slope of the contact between two rock formations. |
| fault | The line along which a rock layer has broken. |
| geology | The science that deals with the makeup and structure of the earth's surface and interior depths. |
| operations map | A map that shows the relationship between the land's physical features and the operation that is to be performed. |
| plat | A map used to show the boundaries of a piece of land and to identify it. |
| spline | A curved line that passes through or is controlled by a series of points. |
| stratum | A distinct layer below the surface of the earth. |
| strike | The direction of contact between two rock formations. |
| topographic maps | A map that presents a complete pictorial description of the area shown. |
