| ecosystems | All living and nonliving things in an area |
| Biotic Factors | Living Parts of an ecosystem. (Example): Fish in a Coral Reef |
| Abiotic Factors | Nonliving things you find in an ecosystem. (Example): A rock creating shelter for a beetle. |
| Organism | A single form of life ; the simplest form of organization in ecology. |
| Population | All members of one kind of organism that live in a particular area. |
| Communities | A group of different populations of organisms. |
| Niche | The specific role an organism plays in the ecosystems. |
| Food chain | The flow of energy from one organism to the next. |
| Food Web | Show the interactions of many different food chains in a single ecosystem. |
| Producer | An organism who can create its own food through the process of photosynthesis. |
| Consumer | An organism that feeds on other organisms or organic matter because it can't make its own food. |
| Decomposer | Organisms that break down dead plants and animals into nutrients for soil. |
| Scavenger | An animal that feeds off of dead or decaying matter. |
