1. ABSORPTION The process that occurs during digestion. A chemical and physical process is carried out to absorb the nutrients, minerals and external substances necessary to live.
2. NUTRITION The process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth.
3. NUTRIENTS A substance used by an organism to survive, grow, and reproduce.
4. CARBOHYDRATES Any of a large group of organic compounds occurring in foods and living tissues and including sugars, starch, and cellulose.
5. MINERALS The elements on the earth and in foods that our bodies need to develop and function normally.
6. VITAMINS A group of substances that are needed for normal cell function, growth, and development.
7. PROTEINS They are large molecules for the structure, function, and regulation of cells, tissues, and organs in the body.
8. DIGESTIVE SYSTEM The system of organs responsible for getting food into and out of the body and for making use of food to keep the body healthy.
9. DIGESTION How your body turns food you eat into nutrients it uses for energy, growth, and cell repair.
10. STOMACH The digestive organ that is located in the upper abdomen, under the ribs.
