Earth's Spheres
Interactions of Spheres, Layers of Atmosphere
| Term | Definition |

| Biosphere | Includes all living things on Earth; plants, animals, etc. |
| Geosphere | Earth's surface, crust and all of the rocks and land. |
| Hydrosphere | All of the water on Earth. |
| Cryosphere | The frozen part of the hydrosphere. |
| Atmosphere | The thin layer of gases that surround Earth. |
| Troposphere | The layer of the atmosphere that is closest to Earth's surface. Where all life is found; where weather happens. |
| Stratosphere | The layer of the atmosphere where Ozone is found; where large commercial planes fly. |
| Mesosphere | The layer of the atmosphere that protects us from meteors by burning them up. |
| Thermosphere | The hottest layer of the atmosphere that protects us by absorbing the harmful gamma and x-rays from the Sun. This is also where we find Space Shuttles. |
| Exosphere | The outermost layer of the atmosphere, has no matter and fades into space. This is where our satellites are found. |
