fossil fuels the preserved remains of organisms that lived long ago and changed into oil, coal, and natural gas
coal a solid fossil fuel that is formed from the remains of swamp plants that have been under extreme pressure for many years 
oil a liquid fossil fuel that can be burned for energy; It is often used to make gasoline and plastics.
natural gas a gas fossil fuel that can be burned for energy; It is often used to heat our homes and stoves
generator a device that produces electricity from motion 
anthracite coal the hardest form of coal that contains the greatest amount of carbon; It produces the greatest amount of heat and is used mainly for heating homes
mining the process of taking materials out of the ground
